Born and raised in Italy, Luca is a UK based guitarist and composer.
He began playing the guitar at the age of 11, and since then he has studied different styles and techniques, performing in various scenarios, from rock to blues, jazz-funk, and contemporary pop.
Moving to London, the current jazz scene helped him in developing a fusion voice on the instrument, features that have become part of his unique approach to the guitar.
He studied at first in Italy attending the contemporary music school in his hometown, and then in London at the ICMP, gaining the first degree, after his BMus in guitar, as well as the award for best guitarist 2019 certified by the Musician Union.
We worked with several bands in Italy, in different situations, such as music studios, theatres, auditoria, and other live venues. In London, he works as a session player: in 2018 he performed with the British songwriter Matt Annecharico, in a live streaming show at the Middlesex University TV Studio.
He also performed at the EFG London Jazz Festival in 2017 with British jazz guitar player and composer Chris Montague.
Most recently he joined the Hip hop- Jazz project Vertaal, performing in the most recognized jazz venues in London, including Pizza Express Live and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, as well as outside London, supporting the Richard Spaven Trio.
In 2019, he supported the British drummer and composer Ajit Gill, playing live at BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC introducing events in London.
His guitar appears on the most recent Vertaal album, that will be released in 2020, as well as on a live studio session recorded at Highfield studio in the UK.
In 2017, he took part in the experimental band Vermilion Day, which fuses avant-garde and jazz sonorities with pop-rock and folk influences, with whom he has played national and international gigs (recently in the Netherlands).
He is still active in London as a session player, composer, music educator, and academic mentor.
